Swing analysis
Golf swing analysis in ChatGPT and Claude
A chatbot can talk about your swing. It can't measure it. Measure it in Swing Studio, connect Chalk Golf, then ask ChatGPT or Claude about the real numbers.
What should I fix first in my last swing?
Chalk Golf · Swing analysis
Your 7 iron, down the line, scored 6.4. Two numbers stand out:
- Hip turn (top)
- 28° (target 40–50°)
- Tempo
- 2.6 : 1 (target 3 : 1)
- Head movement
- In range
Start with the hip turn. The plan from Swing Studio: step-through drill, 3 sets of 10.
Can ChatGPT analyse a golf swing video?
Partly. Give ChatGPT or Claude frames from a swing and they'll describe what they see, often sensibly. What they don't do is measure. They don't find the top of the backswing frame by frame, they don't know where the camera was, and they don't keep a record from one swing to the next. Ask twice about the same clip and you can get two different answers.
So use each for what it's good at. Measure with a swing analysis app, and use the chatbot to explain the numbers, compare swings and plan practice.
What Swing Studio measures
- Ten positions
- P1 setup to P10 finish, found frame by frame in your video
- Checks with targets
- Each check’s measured value beside the range it should sit in
- Tempo and body
- Backswing to downswing ratio, turn and body movement
- Swing score
- 0 to 10, with the one fault to fix first
- Practice plan
- Written feedback and drills for that fault
- Change over time
- What moved since your last comparable swing
With Chalk Golf connected, ChatGPT and Claude can read every one of those for each swing you've analysed, along with your rounds and where each club tends to finish.
How it works
- Film and analyseRecord down the line or face on in Chalk, or pick a video you already have. Swing Studio finds the positions and scores the swing.
- Connect Chalk GolfAdd the connector in Claude or ChatGPT and sign in. It takes about a minute. Setup steps.
- AskAsk about one swing, compare swings, or link a fault to your misses on the course.
Things to ask
- Rate my last swing out of 10 and tell me the one thing to fix first.
- Compare my last three driver swings. Is my tempo getting more consistent?
- My swing score dropped this week. Which checks changed?
- Does what Swing Studio flagged match where my driver misses on the course?
- Turn my last swing analysis into a 30-minute range session.
A ChatGPT prompt for golf swing analysis
Without the connector, paste the numbers in yourself. Measurements get far better answers than “I slice it, what am I doing wrong?”
You're a golf coach. I'll paste the numbers from my swing analysis. For each check, tell me whether it's in range, which one matters most for my miss, one drill for it and one swing thought. My usual miss: [slice / hook / thin / fat]. Handicap: [index]. Club: [club]. [paste checks, tempo and score here]

Questions
Can ChatGPT analyse a golf swing video?
It can describe what it sees in frames from a video, and that can be a useful conversation. It isn’t measuring the swing, though: it doesn’t find each position frame by frame, it doesn’t know the camera angle, and the same clip can get a different answer next time. Use a swing analysis app to measure, and ChatGPT to talk the numbers through.
Can Claude analyse my golf swing?
Claude can discuss swing pictures you upload, with the same limits. Connect Chalk Golf and Claude can read your measured Swing Studio analyses instead: every check, its target, your tempo and how each changed since the last swing.
Does it cost extra?
Swing Studio is part of Chalk Golf Pro. The ChatGPT and Claude connector is free, so asking about your analyses costs nothing more from Chalk.
What’s a good ChatGPT prompt for golf swing analysis?
Give it measurements rather than a vague description: each check, its value and target, your tempo, your usual miss and your handicap. Ask for the one check that best explains the miss, a single drill and a swing thought, not a list of everything.
Does Swing Studio need a launch monitor?
No. It works from a video taken on your iPhone, down the line or face on. A tripod gives the best results.
