Swing Studio

Golf swing analysis on your iPhone

Film your swing, or pick one you've already filmed. Swing Studio draws the plane lines a coach would, steps through the ten positions and shows you the one thing to fix first.

Film, see, fix

  1. Film from the right angle. Choose down the line or face on, pick the club and film the swing with your whole body in frame. A steady phone works best.
  2. See the lines. Plane lines from the ball, the path of your hands and your body lines play over your own video. Jump to any position from setup to finish.
  3. Fix one thing. Get a swing score, your numbers and the fault to work on first, with a cue and a drill to take to the range.

All ten swing positions

Swing Studio finds each position in your swing so you can jump straight to it, frame by frame.

What it checks

Down the line, Swing Studio checks your downswing plane (including over the top and a steep shaft), hip depth and early extension, spine angle, your position at the top, head movement, the trail knee, your setup and tempo. Face on, it checks hip sway, hip shift, spine tilt at the top, the lead arm, head movement, setup and tempo.

Each check shows your number beside the target range, so you can see how far off it is. Your swing score and numbers such as tempo, shoulder turn, hip turn and spine angle are saved, so you can track them over time.

Compare, draw and share

Put two swings side by side, synced position by position, to see what changed. Draw lines and circles on a frame, share a still of the moment that matters, or save the video with the lines drawn in. Filter your swings by club to compare like with like.

Swing Studio reads what the camera can see. It doesn't measure clubhead speed or ball flight. For the flight, use Ball Tracer.

Questions

Which camera angle should I use?

Swing Studio works with down-the-line and face-on video. Choose the angle before you film; each one has its own checks. Down the line shows the swing plane; face on shows sway, weight shift and head movement.

Can I analyse a video I already have?

Yes. Record a new swing in the app or pick a video from your library, then trim it to the swing.

Does Swing Studio need Pro?

Yes. Swing Studio is part of Chalk Golf Pro.
