Three taps from your scoring record

  1. Sign in to GHIN. In Chalk, go to Settings, then Sync scores, then GHIN. GHIN's own sign-in page opens. Use the login you use for GHIN.
  2. Open your scores. Chalk reads the scores GHIN loads for your GHIN number, page by page, and nothing that belongs to anyone else.
  3. Import. Chalk matches each round to its course and asks you to pick the course when it can't be sure. Sync again after your next round; rounds already in Chalk are skipped.

Imported rounds look like a club comp card in your round history: the round across the top, your gross, differential and index, and the scores hole by hole. Rounds already in Chalk, scored by hand, by voice or on your watch, stay as they are.

Your record, with the rest of your golf

Once your rounds are in Chalk, they count everywhere your own rounds do. The Stats tab shows your scoring average and trend, how you score on par 3s, 4s and 5s, your front and back nines and how you play each hole of each course.

Your handicap card shows your official Handicap Index from GHIN beside Chalk's own estimate, which follows the World Handicap System rules. For imported rounds the estimate uses GHIN's own differentials, so the day's playing conditions are the ones the USGA counted.

Imported rounds at your home course count towards your membership cost per round on the Costs tab. Rounds elsewhere show “Fee pending” until you add what you paid.

Your login stays with GHIN

You type your details into GHIN's page, not into a Chalk form, and Chalk doesn't keep your GHIN password. It keeps your own rounds and Handicap Index and nothing else from the page.

The import reads your record and never writes to it. Keep posting your scores the way you do now, in the GHIN app, on ghin.com or at the club.

Questions

Is Chalk a GHIN alternative?

No. Your official Handicap Index comes from the USGA through your club or Allied Golf Association, and GHIN is where you post scores. Chalk reads your GHIN record so it sits with the rest of your golf, and shows your official index beside its own estimate.

Is Chalk the GHIN app?

No. Chalk Golf is an independent app and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the USGA or GHIN. You still post scores in the GHIN app, on ghin.com or at your club.

Does Chalk post scores to GHIN?

No. The import only reads. Chalk never posts, changes or deletes anything in your GHIN record.

What do I need to import my scores?

Chalk on your iPhone or Android phone and the login you use for GHIN. Scores have to be posted to GHIN already, which they are once you or your club have entered them.

Does Chalk keep my GHIN password?

No. You sign in on GHIN's own page, which opens inside Chalk. Chalk reads the scores that page loads for your GHIN number and keeps only your own rounds and Handicap Index.

Does the GHIN import work on Android?

Yes. Chalk Golf for Android has the same import under Settings. Posting scores still happens through GHIN.

Can I use it with an Apple Watch?

Chalk's Apple Watch app shows GPS yardages and keeps score during the round, and those scores land in your Chalk round history. It doesn't post to GHIN; you post the round through GHIN as usual.

Why do some rounds only show a total?

GHIN doesn't hold hole-by-hole scores for every round. When it only has the total, Chalk imports the total and the card says so. Penalty scores aren't imported.

Is the GHIN import part of Pro?

No. It works on every plan, and syncing again later only brings in the rounds you don't already have.
